Have you used WinPopup in the past on Windows 95 or 98 and find that it's no longer available in Windows 2000 or Windows XP? Are you looking for an Instant Messenger program to use locally in your office or on your Local Area Network (LAN)? Then RealPopup is the program you are looking for. You can read more about it at the Realpopup website.

RealPopup Installation Instructions:

Click the "Download Now" link on This Page. You can either run it during the download or save it to your hard drive. If you saved it to your hard drive, locate the file and double click it to launch the installation.

Click Yes

Click Next 3 times

Bullet English and click Next

Click Install

Place a checkmark in the Launch RealPopup Now box and Click Finish.

The System Tray down by the clock should now have an icon for RealPopup.

Double click the RealPopup icon .

Click the Red X to delete the Welcome message.

On the toolbar, click Environment and select options from the menu.

On the Application tab adjust the settings as shown.

 

On the Messages tab adjust the settings as shown.

 

On the Users and Groups tab highlight (ALL USERS) and adjust the settings as shown.

 

On the Users and Groups tab highlight WINPOPUP and adjust the settings as shown.

Click OK

To send a message in RealPopup click the icon

Type the user's name (the name they use to log on to their computer) in the "To" box and type your message. Click the envelope to send the message.

To reply to a message, click the icon.

That's all there is to it. There are other advanced features available via the other buttons that you can check out on your own.

You must have a properly configured network for RealPopup to work correctly.

Note: Windows XP's built in Firewall may sporadically block RealPopup messages. Adding RealPopup to your Firewall's exception list should resolve the problem. Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel or just Start->Control Panel. In Control Panel double click the Network Connections icon. Right click your Local Area Connection and select Properties from the menu. Click the Advanced tab and click the Settings button. You should now be in the Windows Firewall window. On the General tab, your firewall should be on unless you have another firewall and the "Don't allow exceptions" box should be unchecked. Click the Exceptions tab. Click the "Add Program" button. Scroll down the list, highlight RealPopup and click OK. Click OK 2 more times.
