As you browse the Internet, open files, and run programs, many temporary files accumulate on your computer. Besides wasting hard drive space they can also cause problems browsing the internet when you accumulate too many files. One of my clients had over a Gigabyte of temp files on his computer. You can manually cleanup these temporary files or use the disk cleanup utility included in Windows but they are seldom used, due to the numerous steps involved. The 2 files available for download below will allow you, with the click of an icon, to cleanup the temporary files in a matter of seconds. The first time you run the program, it may take up to 10 minutes to cleanup your temp files.

There are 2 versions of the files. One version will cleanup the following folders located below your Windows folder: Recent, Temp and Temporary Internet Files. The second version will cleanup the same folders as well as your Cookies folder. The second version will wipe out all of your cookies. Some cookies allow you to go to favorite websites without having to logon to the site repeatedly and some cookies may keep track of a stock portfolio for example that may have taken you a lot of time to set up on a particular site. If this applies to you, you should download the version that saves your cookies.

Note 1: In your Temporary Internet Files folder is a Content.IE5 folder and inside of that is an index.dat file. Windows will not allow you to delete them so don't go crazy trying to remove them. Note 2: For the 95,98 and ME versions, the program is designed assuming your System files are on the C: drive. If you install to another drive letter, you will have to correct the drive letter in the properties of the shortcuts.

Note 3: The 2K and XP versions will cleanup the logged on user's folders as well as the default user's folders.

Download the appropriate version for your needs to a folder on your hard drive. The files are self extracting/installing once you double click them. The program includes an uninstall feature located in the Cleanup Temp Files folder on your Programs menu in case you want to uninstall the program. No entries are placed into the registry. The files will be copied to a "Batchfil" folder under your C: drive.
